The largest organ of the human body is the skin. Comprising the skin are different layers which are formulated from fat tissue cells and muscle cells.
When talking about the accumulation of fat deposits underneath the skin it is important to know that this is a normal and natural process. In fact, the fat acts as an insulator to external elements and helps to prevent hyperthermia. However, the downside of having fat deposits underneath the skin, cellulitis, is that it can appear unsightly.
Fat Deposits Under the Skin
The fat deposits are held in reserve by the body in the event that the body needs other sources of energy. This accumulation of fat is also due to the individual eating more food than what is required by the body.
These fatty deposits, although they look unseemly, are harmless to the individual. Although unsightly because of being undulated it is important to note that these deposits are not cancerous nor are they to be considered as tumors. Generally, their appearance does more to undermine an individual’s appearance and their self-confidence.
The reason why the body has stored these fatty deposits beneath the surface of the skin is that there is no specific location or reserve tank in which the fat deposits are placed. It is simply an arbitrary depositing process conducted by the body.
The Danger of Fatty Deposits
Although these deposits are, for the most part, harmless, they may be an indication of something more severe that is happening even deeper and more internally within the body itself. Specifically, fat is stored in the areas of the abdomen, thighs, hips and other critical major organs. Some of these organs could include the liver, kidneys, pancreas, etc.
The danger of this accumulated fat within the body can lead to the possible risk of this fat traveling through the bloodstream to different parts of the body. This in turn could develop severe medical conditions such as diabetes, heart disease high blood pressure, etc.
Reducing Fatty Deposits
There are many ways that an individual can reduce fatty deposits within the body. One of the simplest steps is as close as one’s mouth. Consequently, diet can play a very important role in significantly reducing fatty deposits.
Therefore, it is important to eliminate as much as possible saturated and Transfats from one’s diet. These types of fats can be replaced with healthy fats or polyunsaturated fats that can be derived from flaxseed oil, sunflower oil or olive oil. These healthy fats not only enhance the body’s metabolism, but are also heart healthy.
Coupled with diet is the benefit of exercising. It is suggested that an individual exercise for at least five days a week at a level the 45 min. per day. This will help to elevate one’s metabolism and help to burn off excess fat within the body.
Finally, in regards to diet, an individual should include a sufficient number of servings of fruits and vegetables. Also, it is important to eliminate, as much as possible, poultry and red meat products.
