Whilst TB is caused by a bacterial infection that settles in the lungs, the infection can travel throughout the body, and in extreme cases can result in death.

How does TB present itself? A patient stricken with this infection will be quite tired, have difficulty breathing, have a fever along with intense sweating and pain in the chest area. It is essential that a patient with these symptoms see a doctor, though there are home remedies that can bring some relief.

Tried-and-True Home Remedies
1. Garlic
Garlic is an inexpensive, readily available herb that is known to have properties that kill bacteria and promote immunity.
You can boil chopped garlic – about one clove – with 1 cup of milk mixed with 4 cups of water. Try drinking this mixture 2 or 3 times a day.

2. Apple custard
Apple custard works to heal the stressed tissues that develop with TB. Peel two apples and gather about 30 raisins – without seeds: boil them in about one and a half cups of water for 8 to 10 minutes. When about 2/3 of the water has evaporated, filter the custard, add some cinnamon and cardamon and enjoy, twice a day.

3. Green Tea
Green tea brims with antioxidants and is known to build up one’s immunity to bacteria and viruses. Simply make green tea as you would any other tea and drink it regularly, as many as four times a day.

4. Bananas
Bananas are useful in healing the intensity of a TB cough. You can use a juicer or a blender to make banana juice every day. Another delicious way to use bananas is to mash one up with a teaspoon of honey, a cup of coconut water and a half cup of yogurt. You can eat this healthful mixture twice a day.

5. Oranges
The orange is acidic and can act as an expectorant, helping to rid a patient of the phlegm that settles in as TB does. You can squeeze an orange and drink its juice with some honey, once or twice a day.

6. Mint
Mint has been shown to help the body fight bacteria. Mint juice is easily ingested when mixed with honey (2 tsp), carrot juice (1/2 cup) and malt vinegar (2 tsp).
